1 § Section 1

Arbetsmiljön skall vara tillfredsställande med hänsyn till arbetets natur och den sociala och tekniska utvecklingen i samhället. Vid fartygsarbete skall arbetsmiljön vara tillfredsställande också med hänsyn till sjösäkerhetens krav.

The work environment must be satisfactory, taking into account the nature of the work and social and technological developments in society. In the case of work on ships, the work environment must also be satisfactory with regard to the requirements of maritime safety.

Arbetsförhållandena skall anpassas till människors olika förutsättningar i fysiskt och psykiskt avseende.

Working conditions must be adapted to people’s differing physical and mental capabilities.

Arbetstagaren skall ges möjlighet att medverka i utformningen av sin egen arbetssituation samt i förändrings- och utvecklingsarbete som rör hans eget arbete.

Employees must be given the opportunity to participate in the design of their own work situation and in processes of change and development affecting their own work.

Teknik, arbetsorganisation och arbetsinnehåll skall utformas så att arbetstagaren inte utsätts för fysiska eller psykiska belastningar som kan medföra ohälsa eller olycksfall. Därvid skall även löneformer och förläggning av arbetstid beaktas. Starkt styrt eller bundet arbete skall undvikas eller begränsas.

Technologies, the organisation of work and the content of work must be designed in such a way that the employee is not subjected to physical strain or mental stress that may lead to illness or accidents. Forms of remuneration and the organisation of working time must also be taken into account in this connection. Closely controlled or restricted conditions of work must be avoided or limited.

Det skall eftersträvas att arbetet ger möjligheter till variation, social kontakt och samarbete samt sammanhang mellan enskilda arbetsuppgifter.

Efforts must be made to ensure that the work provides opportunities for variety, social contact and cooperation, as well as coherence between different tasks.

Det skall vidare eftersträvas att arbetsförhållandena ger möjligheter till personlig och yrkesmässig utveckling liksom till självbestämmande och yrkesmässigt ansvar. Lag (2003:365).
